Atrocity Archive 2008

Shown 12/5/08:

THE TALL T  (1957)

The bleakest of Boetticher's westerns, it contrasts a world-weary hero (Randolph Scott) with a flamboyant villain (Richard Boone), moving from the comedy of the Shane parody opening to violence and on to tragedy.  Also features Henry Silva.

Incoherent tale of super criminals out to get laid and find a secret formula. Expect to see some cute blonde blue-eyed women with big jugs, someone naked in a barrel and a motorcycle stunt.

I LIKE THE GIRLS WHO DO  (1973)

This Bavarian sex comedy is about a dead uncle's last wish that his nephew bone his seven girlfriends. That's it. I wouldn't hold too much truck in the comedy factor but the Germans usually do pretty well in the naked chicks department. From the director of a lot of sleaze.

Shown 9/5/08:

TERROR OF THE TONGS  (1961)

In 1910 Hong Kong, the evil leader of tongs kills everyone who stands in the way of his slave and opium trade. A sea captain must battle them after his daughter is murdered. The great Christopher Lee stars as Chung King!

From the forbidden pleasures at an all-girl-school in the countryside to wanton hungers in the exotic underground of Hong Kong, Felicity (Glory Annen) finds herself deflowered, defiled, and ultimately delighted by the shame and ecstasy of a libido unleashed - she ain`t mama`s little girl no more!

Shown May 2nd

A MAN CALLED SLEDGE   (1970)

Vic Morrow directed this spaghetti western starring James Garner as Luther Sledge, a brutal robber who gets involved in a plot to steal a shipment of gold stored in a prison. Also look for Dennis Weaver, Ken Clark, Claude Akins and Laura Antonelli.

SISTER OF URSULA   (1978)

The Giallo sinks to low depth here as an unseen killer apparently knocks off his victims with a wooden dildo. Who needs a coherent plot when there's plenty of graphic sleaze and nudity.

THE MAD EXECUTIONERS   (1963)

Strange German Edgar Wallace krimis about a hooded killer who passes judgement on criminals "beyond the law" by hanging them and dumping them in the Thames. Expect to see a lot of fog, a mad scientist and your next Halloween costume.

TOPKAPI  (1964)

Jules (RIFIFI) Dassin returns to the heist movie with this glossy, light-hearted entry in the sub-genre.  A team of dedicated stunt-men and tricksters lift a priceless jewelled dagger from the Topkapi museum in Istanbul.  Stars hottie Melina Mercouri, Maximilian Schell, Oscar-winner Peter Ustinov, Robert Morely, and Akim Tamiroff.

German Edgar Wallace krimis about a master criminal known as The Frog. Expect to see murder, kidnapping, seduction, Joachim Fuchsberger and Eddi Arent.

SCHOOLGIRL REPORT #3  (1971)

What we have here is our favorite kind of sleaze fest - one that doesn't worry about a plot, or even a story for that matter. Expect a naked frau or two and some really groovy tunes by Gert Wilden.

Shown March 7th:

OASIS OF FEAR  (1971)

Umberto Lenzi thriller with Ray Lovelock and Ornella Muti as two drifters who stumble across the home of a rich, older woman (Irene Papas) and when they discover her husband's dead body in the garage, decide to make themselves at home and blackmail her. Unfortunately for them, she's not someone you want to screw around with.

LA VIE DE BOHEME    (1992)

Aki Kaurismaki! Henri Murgerin romaaniin ”Scènes de la vie de bohème” perustuva melankolinen komedia kolmen taiteilijan boheemielämästä Pariisissa. Rodolfo on albanialainen pakolainen ja suuri maalari, Marcel suuri ranskalainen runoilija ja Schaunard suuri irlantilainen säveltäjä. Heidän virtuoosimaiseen päivästä toiseen selviytymiseensä tuo uuden hohteen kaksi maalaiskaunotarta, Mimi ja Musette. Elokuvan lopun sentimentaalisuuden vuoksi kehotamme mahdollisia naiskatsojia varautumaan nenäliinoin.

42ND STREET FOREVER VOL. 3

Try to prepare yourself for 101 minutes of atrocious exploitation trailers from Synapse.

MAD DOCTOR OF MARKET STREET
Joseph H. Lewis directs Lionel Atwill in his last starring role as another mad doctor, this time experimenting with suspended animation on a jungle island.  Atwill would shortly after this be taken down by a groovy sex scandal from which his career never recovered.  Note to the viewer: Beware the comedy relief!

RICCO THE MEAN MACHINE    (1973)

Stars Chris Mitchum, Barbara Bouchet and Arthur Kennedy. If that's not enough, fuck you. Okay, forget that. We watched this one back in 2001 on VHS so it's time to revisit this little film that's all about crime and revenge and sleaze. From the very untalented director of HAY ALGUIEN DETRAS DE LA PUETRA.

BLACK EMANUELLE/WHITE EMANUELLE    (1976)

This one stars Laura Gemser, Annie Belle, Al Cliver and Gabriele Tinti (again!). Did we mention the very white Annie Belle? From the director of SEX LIFE IN A WOMAN'S PRISON.
